About The Role
Balfour Beatty is seeking a Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Advisor to join our Power Transmission and Distribution Team on the Bramford to Twinstead (BTNO) project.
The HSW Advisor will support the delivery of the Zero Harm Action Plan, working with the HSW Manager to ensure project compliance with the UK Business Management System's HSW requirements.
Project details: Balfour Beatty will replace the high voltage electricity network between Bramford Substation in Suffolk and Twinstead Tee in Essex, with a new 400 kV overhead line spanning 18 km. Additionally, 11 km of underground cable will be delivered through the Dedham Vale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Stour Valley.
Responsibilities include:
1. Supporting the delivery of Balfour Beatty Rail HSW Strategy and BBUK 8-Point Plan
2. Contributing to the implementation and review of the Zero Harm and Sustainability Action Plans
3. Supporting project-level HSW KPIs
4. Assisting work-winning teams as needed
5. Investigating accidents, incidents, and near misses in line with Group Standards and BMS
6. Conducting scheduled support visits to operational projects
7. Producing reports on project performance against UK HSES regulations
8. Monitoring Environmental Risk Management practices
9. Promoting Principles of Prevention and Hierarchy of Control
10. Delivering HSW training
11. Supporting supply chain engagement strategies
12. Participating as an HSW Champion and researching best practices
13. Assisting in developing and reviewing SSOW and HS&W Case Studies
14. Living the Balfour Beatty Values
15. Engaging in professional development activities
Qualifications and experience required:
* Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH Diploma, NCRQ, NVQ Level 6)
* Ability to influence safety culture and investigate incidents
* Knowledge of UK H&S regulations and Business Management System
* Strong report-writing skills
* Experience in construction and civils projects
* CSCS competence
* Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
Desirable qualifications include additional technical skills, IOSH membership, internal auditor qualification, understanding of CDM 2015, and environmental sustainability qualifications.
