Head of Accounts
Location: Leicester
Salary: £65,000 - £70,000
Job Type: Full-time, Office-based
This role is working for a successful property development business with multiple sites across the Midlands. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Head of Accounts will play a key role in the strategic management of the business and its portfolio.
Your Role
As the Head of Accounts, you will lead the finance department, ensuring financial stability and growth through effective budgetary control. You should be an experienced leader with exceptional attention to detail and a hands-on approach.
Key Responsibilities:
* Calculation and reporting of all tax liabilities
* Managing month-end and year-end account processes efficiently and accurately
* Supporting the business with bank funding projects for future developments
* Overseeing cost accounting and bank reconciliations
* Ensuring all balance sheets are fully reconciled
* Issuing financial statements and managing the month-end close process
* Developing and producing monthly management accounts within 14 days of month-end
Financial Analysis & Controls
* Developing and maintaining performance measurements
* Designing and reviewing financial policies and internal control systems
* Ensuring accurate and timely VAT returns
* Preparing audit information and supporting compliance
Strategic Planning & Leadership
* Participating in strategic financial planning
* Leading and developing the finance team
* Overseeing accounts receivable, payable, and billings
* Managing payroll on Sage and ensuring smooth pension scheme administration
Budgeting & Forecasting
* Developing budget targets and financial plans
* Monitoring and updating forecasts to support accurate financial decision-making
What We're Looking For
* Fully Qualified ACCA or CIMA qualification (not QBE)
* People management and leadership experience
* Strong project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
* Working knowledge of payroll and pension schemes
* Experience in legal compliance and financial risk management
* Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
* Proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Office, and Sage
* A proactive, hands-on, and detail-oriented approach
