Key Purpose Statement
The Asahi UK business is seeking a highly motivated and passionate individual to help drive our sustainability agenda. The successful candidate will play a cross-functional role, working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to support the strategic planning and delivery of our sustainability programme, with a focus on manufacturing and supply chain environments. The role requires specialist technical knowledge in sustainable business management, acquired through experience or vocational education.
Job Description
Key Accountabilities:
1. Deliver the UK sustainability programme, including strategy development, identifying key actions, and ensuring cross-functional integration.
2. Work independently and as part of a small Corporate Affairs team, with input from the European sustainability community.
3. Engage with operational sections, including manufacturing and logistics, to analyze challenges and opportunities for sustainability.
4. Coordinate and manage data to monitor the business footprint and meet environmental reporting requirements.
5. Make informed recommendations and build business cases for actions and investments.
6. Support regulatory compliance including ESOS, TCFD, and UK SRS.
7. Contribute to sustainability communications, engaging external stakeholders and customers.
8. Serve as an authority on sustainability branding and corporate communications.
9. Manage stakeholder relationships and presentations internally and externally.
10. Act as a sustainability ambassador, promoting awareness and building support across the business.
11. Foster a culture of environmental awareness and coordinate educational initiatives.
Essential Competencies and Behaviours:
* Passion for sustainability
* Experience in operational and business sustainability
* Strong interpersonal skills for relationship building
* Ability to manage complex information
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Desirable Skills and Knowledge:
* Understanding of manufacturing and supply chain sustainability challenges
* Knowledge of business operations and market factors
* Experience in the Food and Drink sector, especially sustainable sourcing
* Project management skills for waste and energy initiatives
* Interest in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
Experience Required:
* Proficiency in IT, especially Excel and data analysis
* Knowledge of environmental management and key accreditations
* Project management experience
