Overview
We are recruiting Registered Nurses and other registered healthcare professionals for a hybrid Functional Assessor role supporting Personal Independence Payment (PIP) assessments in Hitchin. This role offers a structured alternative to hands‑on clinical or shift‑based work, based on clinical knowledge to assess how a person’s health condition affects their daily living and mobility. There is no treatment, prescribing or manual handling involved.
Working pattern
You will work partly from home and partly at the Hitchin assessment centre, typically attending onsite up to two days per week, with all appointments pre‑booked and full training and ongoing clinical support provided.
Responsibilities
* Carry out structured functional assessments for PIP
* Conduct clinical conversations by telephone, video or face‑to‑face
* Review medical evidence and supporting documentation
* Produce clear, objective, evidence‑based written reports
* Use secure digital clinical systems and templates
* Work to agreed quality standards and deadlines
Qualifications
* Registered with one of the following bodies: Registered Nurse (RGN, RMN or RNLD) – NMC; Physiotherapist – HCPC; Occupational Therapist – HCPC; Paramedic – HCPC; Pharmacist – GPhC
* At least 12 months post‑registration experience
* Good communication and clinical reasoning skills
* Confidence with written reports and IT systems
* The ability to work in a structured, desk‑based role
