Overview
We have a position for a Band 6 Specialist Podiatrist. Golden Hello eligible! A Golden Hello payment of £2000 (£1000 upon commencement and a further £1000 after successful completion of 6th month probation) will be paid if eligibility terms are met. The organisation is CSH Surrey, an employee-owned NHS community services provider. NB: If you are newly qualified you will start at a Band 5 on the band 5 pay scale.
Located in NW Surrey, with good transport links into London and access to outdoor spaces. The role includes specialist clinics: Nail surgery, Musculoskeletal and Wound care, care for high and medium risk patients, assessment of new patients, and a domiciliary caseload.

Main duties of the job
Your role as a Band 6 Podiatrist is to provide a highly effective, comprehensive foot health and protection service for the population of CSH Surrey at a variety of clinical sites including in patients’ homes, working towards the objectives and values of CSH Surrey.
Key responsibilities include:
* Assessing, diagnosing, developing treatment plans and providing effective podiatric treatments using a problem-solving approach based on clinical need and evidence-based practice. Emphasis on patient empowerment and independence by providing education and information to help patients manage their own foot needs.
* Working as an autonomous clinician within Professional, Departmental and CSH guidelines, part of a multidisciplinary team when required, and acting as a source of advice to patients, carers, GPs and other health care professionals.
* Maintaining clear, comprehensive, and accurate records; participating in specialist clinical rotations and clinical support (clinical supervision) with reflective practice.
* Staying up to date with clinical and professional developments; maintaining CPD and mandatory training; actively participating in professional development reviews.
* Communicating effectively with all patients, carers, relatives, GPs and other health professionals.

Professional and Clinical Responsibilities
* Clinical duties including assessment, diagnosis, development of specialised treatment plans, and provision of podiatric treatments for patients with complex medical conditions (e.g., diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, vascular insufficiencies) and other vulnerable groups.
* Early intervention where possible to enable long-term gains; patient education to empower self-management; education sessions for new and current patients.
* Services provided across diverse sites including patient homes, clinics, GP practices, community hospitals; work often in isolation, with multidisciplinary team involvement as required.
* Clinical risk management within own patient caseload, obtaining informed consent, and ensuring appropriate assessment prior to referrals to the assistant grade.
* Instruments and procedures include diagnostic work (e.g., wound swabs, Doppler ultrasound), wound management, neurological and vascular assessments, wound debridement, minor surgery preparation, and orthotics provision.
* Maintain domiciliary caseload, coordinate with admin teams, and keep patient records up to date; participate in clinical supervision and reflective practice; educate and assess students and junior staff.
Organisation and Communication
* Operate within CSH guidelines and maintain professional portfolio; complete CPD hours and participate in PDPs and governance initiatives.
* Contribute to operational management of clinical bases, maintain equipment, stock control, safety, infection control, and local policies; ensure secure handling of controlled items.
* Record clinical activities using the electronic patient system (RiO/EMIS); ensure IT systems are used appropriately; report accidents or near misses as required.
* Communicate effectively with patients, carers and relatives; coordinate with GPs, allied health professionals, and multidisciplinary teams; provide health promotion and patient education sessions.
Qualifications
* Essential: HCPC Registered Podiatrist (BSc/MSc pre-reg or equivalent); Local Anaesthetic Certificate; Car Driver (full licence); Post-graduate education/CPD/Professional Portfolio.
