The posts are ideal for suitably experienced professionals to extend their skills and experience whilst working in a team-based environment, although the ability to work independently out of hours in CT is crucial.
The posts offer a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in the whole range of examinations we undertake as a tertiary referral Trust. The post holders will work alongside the teams in Interventional Radiology, CT and General Radiology. The Radiology department offers a broad range of modalities and full training will be provided to the successful candidate.
The out of hours emergency CT and Interventional Radiology services are provided via an on‑call rota and the successful candidate will be expected to participate in this on‑call service.

The post holders will take responsibility for producing images of a high standard, supervising and training junior staff including radiography students and assistant practitioners.
Detailed knowledge and understanding of anatomy, general radiographic practices and methods of reducing radiation dose, as well as a working knowledge of ionising radiation legislation (IR (ME) R) is required.
Previous experience in CT or interventional radiology would be extremely beneficial for this role and a postgraduate qualification in a clinical speciality, or postgraduate specialist short courses, or relevant specialist experience would be desirable. However, CT or Interventional Radiology experience is not imperative, as full training will be given.
Successful candidates will also be expected to train in and undertake CT Colonography examinations. Cannulation training will also be provided if required.
Working knowledge of all relevant professional and NHS policies and procedures is essential, as is the need to have the IT skills necessary for radiology information systems (RIS) and picture archiving and communication systems (PACS).

Qualifications and Experience
* Must be HCPC registered and hold a BSc (Hons) or equivalent in Diagnostic Radiography.
* Good organisational, interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team, or independently.
* Experience in CT or interventional radiology highly desirable but not essential.
* Prior experience in CT Colonography, and cannulation training would be advantageous.
Responsibilities
* Produce high‑standard images and supervise/training junior staff.
* Participate in out‑of‑hours emergency CT and interventional radiology services via on‑call rota.
* Train in and undertake CT Colonography examinations.
* Support the out‑of‑hours interventional on‑call service at the Royal Victoria Infirmary.
* Support imaging for cardio‑thoracic, vascular, oncology, hepatobiliary, urology and gastroenterology services.
* Potentially take on additional responsibilities such as radiation protection supervisor, manual handling facilitator, health and safety representative, Society of Radiographers representative or CPR trainer.
Job Purpose
To be part of a team delivering a high quality, efficient and effective radiographic service, to make an informed decision on the diagnostic images required and demonstrate a professional, caring and responsible approach to patients. Committed to out‑of‑hours “on‑call” service in evenings and at weekends for both the CT and interventional radiology services, with a primary base at Freeman Hospital but with a requirement to work within radiology departments trust wide when required.
