About the role
We are seeking an Endoscopy Health Care Assistant to join our multidisciplinary team at Southport and Ormskirk Hospital. The role involves assisting during endoscopy procedures, supporting patients before and after procedures, and providing high‑quality care in a fast‑moving environment.
Key responsibilities
* Assist with patient admission, recovery, and care in procedure rooms.
* Support registered healthcare practitioners with clinical tasks, including risk assessments, sample collection, and patient history gathering.
* Carry out delegated procedures such as venepuncture, ECG recording, blood glucose monitoring, and specimen collection within competence.
* Provide person‑centred care for personal hygiene, toileting, feeding, and other daily living activities.
* Operate patient equipment safely (hoists, wheelchairs, etc.).
* Maintain patient safety, privacy, and property management.
* Monitor and order supplies, ensuring adequate stock for the department.
* Participate in audits, surveys, and quality improvement activities.
* Train and mentor new starters; supervise junior staff and students when appropriate.
* Follow Trust policies, procedures, and the duty of care principles, acting in patients’ best interests.
* Contribute to handovers, communication, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Requirements
* Previous healthcare experience with a strong background in endoscopy preferred but not mandatory.
* Excellent communication and compassionate care for patients, families, and colleagues.
* Ability to work safely and efficiently within a high‑volume practice.
* Flexibility to rotate duties across both Southport and Ormskirk sites.
* Dedication to continuing professional development and learning.
