Anexciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Assistant Psychologist to jointhe specialist Red Cell service at Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust. We areseeking a compassionate and motivated person to work with individuals andfamilies affected by red cell disorders (e.g. Sickle Cell Disease andThalassaemia) across the lifespan. The successful candidate will workalongside Clinical Psychology colleagues the role will include a range ofclinical and research activities.
Theadvertised post will involve working within both the adult and paediatricservices. Both are dynamic, reflective multidisciplinary teams who highlyvalue the contribution that Clinical Psychology can offer. The post-holderwill also benefit from close links with the wider psychology departments inadult and paediatric services. This is a 0.5-1 WTE full time 3 years-fixedterm post, however we welcome applications from candidates interested in jobsharing and part-time working arrangements.

Main duties of the job
Therole offers varied opportunities to support with service delivery, includingparticipation in MDT clinics, developing psychoeducational resources andscreening tools for people living people living with Sickle Cell Disease orThalassaemia and their families, assisting with delivering psychologicalinterventions (with supervision from qualified staff), and administeringcognitive assessments to people with Sickle Cell Disease who are at risk ofdeveloping/ are suspected to have experienced strokes. This role provides an excellent opportunityto work with a culturally diverse population across the life-span, and todevelop skills working alongside a range of colleagues as a fully integratedmember of the specialist MDT.
Therewill also be opportunities to develop skills in research, serviceaudit/evaluation and providing teaching and training.

LeedsTeaching Hospitals Trust and Leeds Childrens Hospitals are large centresproviding this specialist service across the region. The successful candidatewill work as a fully integrated member of the MDT, as well as enjoying closelinks with the paediatric psychology team and clinical and health psychologyadult team. These are large and friendly departments made up of made up ofClinical and Counselling Psychologists, Counsellors, Therapists and assistantpsychologists.
Injoining the Department you would have the opportunity to work alongsidedifferent professionals and gain some experience of different specialityareas, as well as receiving regular supervision from a qualified member ofstaff. In addition, there will be opportunities to participate indepartment-wide Special Interest Groups (SIGs), to contribute to otheractivities that support and enhance patient experience and support withongoing digital developments.

Clinical& Research
1. To undertake psychological assessmentand intervention of children, young people and adults with health conditions.
2. To liaise with other professionalsand attend multidisciplinary or multiagency meetings.

Person Specification
Experience
* Experience of working in a health care setting.
* An understanding of multidisciplinary working
* Psychometric evaluation
* Use of statistical programmes and analyses
* Experience of childhood health issues.
Qualifications
* An upper second-class honours degree or higher in Psychology.
* Entitlement to Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society.
* Further post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, neuropsychology and/or research design and analysis.

* Highly developed ICT skills
* High-level of developed communication skills (written and verbal) including an ability to communicate with medical and nursing staff.
