Revvity is a developer and provider of end-to-end solutions designed to help scientists, researchers, and clinicians solve the world’s greatest health challenges. We pair the enthusiasm of an industry disruptor with the experience of a longtime leader. Our diverse team of 11,000+ colleagues from around the globe are vital to our success and the reason we’re able to push boundaries in pursuit of better human health.
Find your future at Revvity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Scientist to join the R&D base editing team based in Cambridge UK. The candidate will contribute to the development of a novel base editing platform for Cell and Gene therapy applications. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic scientist with interest in CRISPR and gene editing technologies and their therapeutic applications. This is a lab-based role, the candidate should be self-motivated, able to work to tight timelines and be comfortable working in a dynamic environment and with shifting priorities.
As a Senior Scientist you are expected to independently run multiple projects, to provide scientific guidance to more junior colleagues, and apply your knowledge and problem-solving skills to influence research. The candidate should be able to conduct high quality and complex research while being aware of external development related to base editing and cell and gene therapy. The senior scientist should also participate in cross-functional teams and function as a project lead when required. As part of the R&D team the candidate will be actively presenting posters and talks in international scientific conferences and should be able to develop an internal and external network.
About the team
The Base Editing R&D team consists of multiple scientists across our two sites in Cambridge (UK) and Boulder (Colorado). We work in a collaborative and supportive environment where everyone gets a chance to contribute to the success of our projects. We are a friendly team; we meet regularly for group meetings and journal clubs and interact widely across the company. There are great opportunities for training and development.
Key Responsibilities
Critically develop, evaluate and apply new DNA base editors to disease targets
Plan and perform proof-of-concept experiments in therapeutically-relevant cell types (human primary cells and iPSC).
Design and perform experiments independently with minimal supervision, in accordance with project plans.
Analyse and interpret experimental data; troubleshoot, discuss results, identify next steps, and the escalation of key data.
Contribute to ideas and help shape future project direction
Prepare high quality data packages, reports, conference presentations, etc, clearly disseminating the results of the work to internal stakeholders and external partners
Maintain an awareness of the current techniques/technologies and apply these to research into base editing
Report on milestone delivery and project status
Be an effective team member in supporting the research and development functions in Revvity
Occasonally provide support to the commercial team through the preparation of high-quality data packages
A Ph.D. in a relevant field (such as cell biology/genetics/immunology or a closely related field) with minimum 2 years post-doc or industry experience
Experience with CRISPR / gene editing technologies.
Experience with human primary cells (e.g. haematopoietic stem cells, immune cells, iPSCs)
Extensive cell culture experience
Experience with phenotypic cell-based assays and molecular biology methods
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent troubleshooting and ability to adapt quickly to evolving priorities
Application of gene editing technologies to cell and gene therapies
Experience with technologies for gene editing off-target identification, including NGS based assays.
Experience with immune cells including NK cells and macrophages.
Experience with organoids.
Experience with delivery technologies for gene therapy (e.g. LNPs, AAV)
