Find out more about the benefits of working for the University of Birmingham Role Summary To review media coverage, analyse sentiment, record relevant data, and ensure that coverage is correctly attributed to the relevant area of the University. The post will also support the consistent tagging and monitoring of content related to equality, diversity, and inclusion themes within the media landscape. Main Duties Using the online Meltwater media monitoring platform, the post holder will: Review press and online coverage of the University and identify relevant mentions. Tag and categorise coverage by College or area of the University. Analyse and record sentiment and tone of the coverage. Flag and tag references relating to equality, diversity, and inclusion themes where appropriate. Routinely produce coverage reports collating media coverage. Supporting the Communications and Reputation team with other requests. Person Specification Relevant work experience demonstrating ability to carry out monitoring and administrative tasks. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn the Meltwater platform. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Strong teamworking and communication skills. Ability to organise tasks and manage workload within agreed timescales. Planning and Organising The post holder will plan and prioritise their work in line with a schedule agreed with their supervisor, ensuring deadlines for monitoring activity and reporting are met. Problem Solving and Decision Making The role involves identifying relevant media coverage, applying appropriate tagging, and maintaining accurate monitoring data. Guidance will be available from the Communications Manager for complex or unclear items. Internal and External Relationships Communications and Reputation team colleagues. Wider Professional Services colleagues when required. Dimensions No line management responsibilities. No financial responsibility. Additional Information The role requires consistent cover throughout the year, including outside of standard term time. As this is a Worklink casual post, students can work for a maximum of 13 consecutive weeks before a compulsory 6-week break is required. Applicants should ensure they are able to commit to regular availability across the full academic year, including outside of term time (e.g. the summer period), to support continuity of monitoring activity.
