About The Role Working within the Engineering Department the role of Mechanical Contracts Designer is to produce the Mechanical Contract designs for the application of BRUSH Switchgears products. This would include General Arrangement Drawings and Bill of Materials, varying in degrees of complexity. Key Responsibilities Working to instruction and/or specifications produced by the Applications Engineers Produce, design and/or modify drawings Create detailed General Arrangement drawings based on the customer requirements additionally construct Bills of Materials for each project. Create project specific Mechanical Designs & Label Schedules. Liaise directly with Manufacturing and Quality team members on issues relating to drawings. Assist in the production of contract job packs and other Manufacturing and Quality deliverables as required to meet on time delivery schedules. Assist engineers with initial design requirements and conceptualise plans and details to accurately convey manufacturing requirements. Provide engineering support and assistance to customers and internal departments Qualifications Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience & Skills: Qualified to HNC level in a Mechanical Engineering Discipline Skills The attitude and will to want to make a difference and to support other team members Self-motivated with positive attitude to meet deadlines and work schedules Have a disciplined and enthusiastic approach, which captures the commitment of others Eye for detail and able to work at high degree of accuracy Influencing and negotiating skills Detail oriented with the skill set to resolve problems The ability to demonstrate a thorough understanding of drafting and design practices and theories The ability to work by yourself or as a part of a team The ability to prioritise and plan effectively A comprehensive understanding of electrical health and safety regulations Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with team members in other departments Knowledge Good IT skills in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project Proficient in AutoCAD/SolidWorks systems Knowledge of SAGE ERP system Knowledge of electrical protection systems would be an advantage Excellent verbal and written communication skills Understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes Knowledge of relevant industry switchgear standards Experience A minimum of 3 years of working withing the switchgear industry would an advantage. BRUSH Switchgear product knowledge considered. Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
