An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full‑time permanent Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) to join an established and welcoming Crisis Assessment and Treatment Service based in Stranraer.

The post holder will play a key role in providing support to patients during periods of mental health crisis, including assessment, risk management and supporting people to remain at home by providing intensive home treatment. Relevant training will be provided to the successful candidate.

The post holder will support the nursing team in the delivery of care and be part of a larger multidisciplinary team focused on joint working to deliver safe, high‑quality care. The focus will be on promoting self‑care and recovery while enabling people with mental health problems to be as independent as possible.

Team priorities include collaborative working, patient enablement, care assurance and a strength‑based approach for patients. The successful candidate will be based at Innistaigh in Stranraer, but will support people in their homes throughout the Wigtownshire area. The post holder will work in partnership with service users, families, carers and other agencies.

This post will provide opportunity for personal development and growth in a friendly, experienced and supportive team. Full supervision, mentoring and training will be provided.

NHS Dumfries & Galloway are unable to support OSCE Training for international nurses for vacancies. Vacancies requiring professional registration require full United Kingdom registration with the appropriate council (e.g., NMC, HCPC, GMC, GDC).
