The Prep Paint Technician is an integral part of our business. The main responsibilities of this role include:
* Ensuring the repair of motor vehicles of all types is carried out to motor manufacturer industry standards or repair methods.
* Performing work efficiently, safely, and economically, while maintaining the vehicle's quality and safety.
* Applying knowledge and skills to restore vehicles to an industry-recognized acceptable standard.
Key Responsibilities
* Observing, recognizing, and reporting on vehicle structure and paintwork.
* Ensuring vehicles comply with safety standards upon return to customers, and reporting faults on the job card.
* Removing and safely storing vehicle components, fluids, and gases as directed by work orders.
* Removing and safely disposing of vehicle components and fluids as directed.
* Conducting quality control of all repairs and final sign-off.
* Reporting any faults or defects noticed during vehicle work.
* Ensuring repair methods are documented and understood, such as in the job pack, e-scribe, manufacturer, or other sources.
* Interpreting and implementing technical service instructions.
* Ordering replacement parts and recording their usage.
* Performing paint repairs accurately using mixing schemes, computerised scales, spray booths, and drying lamps.
* Ensuring vehicles meet safety standards upon return or noting faults on the job card.
* Applying topcoat according to manufacturer specifications.
* Preparing repaired areas as directed for topcoat application.
