Our client, a reputable legal firm committed to upholding the highest standards of data privacy and compliance, is seeking an experienced and proactive Lead Data Protection Officer (DPO). This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere within the UK. As the Lead DPO, you will be the primary point of contact for all data protection matters, ensuring compliance with GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, and other relevant legislation. You will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing the firm's data protection strategy.

Your responsibilities will include advising on data protection obligations, conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), and developing and delivering data protection training to staff across all departments. You will manage and maintain the firm\'s data processing records and oversee data subject access requests (DSARs). Key Responsibilities

* Oversee and advise on all data protection compliance matters.

* Develop and implement data protection policies and procedures.
* Deliver data protection training and awareness programs.

Qualifications

* Law degree or equivalent legal qualification.
* Significant experience as a Data Protection Officer or in a senior privacy advisory role.
* In-depth knowledge of GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, and international privacy laws.
* Experience in conducting DPIAs and managing DSARs.
* Strong understanding of legal terminology and risk management.
* Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.

Qualifications (Additional)

* Law degree, or equivalent professional qualification in Data Protection (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPP/US).
* Demonstrable experience (minimum 5 years) in a data protection or privacy role, with a strong emphasis on GDPR.
* In-depth knowledge of data protection laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and other international privacy frameworks.
* Proven experience in conducting DPIAs, managing data breaches, and developing privacy policies.
* Excellent understanding of information security principles and risk management.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
* Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal audiences.
* Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects effectively in a remote setting.
* Experience in managing or mentoring junior privacy professionals is a plus.
* Membership in relevant professional bodies is desirable.
