Ardargh Glass Packaging (UK) Limited are looking for a Plant EngineeringApprenticeto complete a Level 3 Mechatronics Maintenance Technician apprenticeship and join their team.
You will learn and obtain experience in the fundamentals of mechanical and/or electrical engineering, through training on the job and day release once a week at the AMRC Training Centre. Throughout the duration of the apprenticeship, you will be taught, and will put into practice, engineering skills which will be key for a junior engineering role within Ardagh. Your apprenticeship will last for a minimum of 3 years, during which time you may be required to rotate around the wide range of engineering departments across our business. The job role also requires the candidate to learn about glass defects and what inspection capabilities are in
relation to these defects, what issues they can cause the customer/consumer.Subject to aspiration and performance, you will progress onto an HNC.
Role & responsibilities:
* Maintenance work in all areas of the plant, or in specific departments, dependant on area employed, where there is a need for additional manpower. (under supervision)
* Working with established engineers on different projects (under supervision)
* Training for SMED projects
* Training to be able to carry out 5S in the workshop and factory
* Maintenance of Lehr gear boxes/chains/belts and general running condition
* Maintain records of repair, servicing and material usage
* Maintain work area in a clean and tidy condition ensuring a safe working environment and compliance with statutory regulation
All of the above will be under strict supervision with a detailed training program

* A keen interest in either mechanical engineering, fabrication or manufacturing.

Things to consider:
During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study. You will return to your workplace one Friday per month. After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study. The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.

Advanced Apprenticeships entry requirements
You will need both of the following:
* GCSE English language C or 4 or above
* GCSE Maths C or 4 or above.
Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.
