We're looking for a Senior Design Manager to join our Assured Delivery Rail team. In this role you'll oversee engineering assurance covering both design and construction across a single project or portfolio of smaller projects at tender and contract stage.
Initially your focus will be on the £80m Manchester Airport Railway Station project.
Location : Nationwide / North West – travel to the site and office will be required with some remote working available
Hours : Permanent, Fulltime 42 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us
What will you be responsible for?
As Senior Design Manager, you'll lead design management and act as a discipline specialist during delivery stage. You'll manage the interfaces between Design and Construction teams across the project lifecycle to ensure most efficient and effective solutions are achieved while maintaining compliance with all relevant company standards, procedures and policies.
Your day to day will include:
Provide technical support and manage design activities during Tender and Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), delivering innovative, compliant, and value-engineered solutions. Oversee the production of all required deliverables in line with the tender/ECI programme
Lead design development and optioneering, ensuring a strong emphasis on buildability by fostering collaboration between construction and design teams to deliver the most efficient and effective solutions. Engage with specialist suppliers at both tender and contract stages
Manage Quality Control on site and engage the construction team on design requirements
What are we looking for?
This role of Senior Design Manager is great if you have:
A degree in Civil Engineering or other relevant engineering degree and professional status with the engineering council (or working towards this)
Experience of leading the engineering (design and/or construction) for complex multi-disciplinary projects that have significant change on the railway system
Demonstrable experience of undertaking the CEM role on multi-disciplinary projects
