Job Responsibilities
Your role will involve working with young people to promote independence through support with education, household tasks and general life skills. You will also update online care records, complete medication administration, and ensure the general upkeep and tidiness of the home, so the young people live in a homely environment.
At our Huddersfield home, you will work with young people who have a variety of mental health diagnoses, including personality disorder, difficulties with food, and self‑harm strategies to cope with emotions. You will support them to improve their relationship with food and manage incidents of self‑harm. Many of our young people are preparing to move on positively from Woodside into the community; you will support this transition by encouraging them to self‑administer medication, re‑engage with education, access public transport and appointments independently.
The service is a 5‑bed residential service located near a wooded area of Huddersfield, with scenic walks, local amenities, and ample outdoor space for activities such as theme parks, rock climbing, and “go ape.” The house is large, well‑maintained and homely, providing a pleasant environment for both staff and residents.
Previous care experience is not essential; full training will be provided, along with ongoing support and mentoring from our residential and clinical team. This role offers a highly rewarding experience and a great start to developing a career working with young people or enhancing your existing mental health experience.
