We are seeking a caring, resilient and highly motivated Inclusion Officer to join our Primary School team. This is a pivotal pastoral role, focused on supporting pupils’ emotional wellbeing, engagement in school life and attendance. Working closely with class teachers, senior leaders and families, the Inclusion Officer will help ensure that every child feels safe, valued and supported to achieve their potential.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide one-to-one and small group mentoring for pupils, acting in a pupil coach capacity to support emotional regulation, confidence, behaviour and engagement.
2. Support pupils with attendance and punctuality, working sensitively with families to identify barriers and promote regular school attendance.
3. Track and monitor attendance, implement support plans and conduct home visits where necessary.
4. Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and families, offering and leading Early Help support.
5. Work collaboratively with parents/carers to provide practical support, signposting and advice.
6. Be an active member of the school’s Safeguarding Team, contributing to safeguarding processes, monitoring concerns and supporting follow up actions.
7. Work alongside teachers and support staff to implement strategies that promote inclusion and positive behaviour.
8. Liaise with external agencies Social Care, health services, educational welfare) as required.
9. Maintain clear, accurate records in line with school policies and safeguarding requirements.
10. Uphold the school’s strong commitment to inclusion, wellbeing and safeguarding at all times.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
11. Current experience in mainstream education or specialist setting of SEND.
12. Experience of working effectively with a wide range of agencies and stakeholders.
13. An effective working experience with parents and families in a wide range of situations.
14. Experience of the Early Help Process.
15. Excellent communication skills.
16. To lead and be part of multi-agency meetings.
17. Ability to work and communicate with children and adults.
18. Ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
19. Can communicate professionally and confidently to stakeholders at all levels.
20. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
21. To be flexible and adaptable at both school level and legislative level.
22. Empathetic approach to children and families.
23. Ability to problem solve issues autonomously.
24. Self leader: able to plan and direct own work.
25. Data analysis of student attendance.
26. Familiarity and competence and Microsoft Office/Outlook software.
27. Level 3 Safeguarding.
28. Educated to A levels, an NVQ3 or equivalent experience.
