Job Summary:

To manage the operation of a broiler farm in line with company business strategy to produce the expected results. This includes ensuring that the stock produced is of the highest standards and meets the required specification in terms of welfare, weight, quality and cost efficiency. It also requires managing all aspects of the farm, including staff management and training, Compliance and Health and Safety.

Key Responsibilities:

* Effective 2-way communication with the Area Manager to ensure that relevant information is provided and acted on promptly and alerting the Area Manager when problems are identified.
* Ensuring the welfare of birds is not compromised at any time.
* Ensuring the highest quality conditions are provided for the birds by managing and monitoring ventilation, heating, feed, water, litter and lighting so that they are within the agreed standards.
* Responsibility for the adherence to bio-security measures on site.
* Ensuring all company and external assurance schemes/standards are met at all times.
* Ensuring all required paperwork is completed in a timely manner and sent to the relevant department, with copies filed as necessary.
* Responsibility for responding to alarms and ensuring that they are regularly tested and in working order.
* Responsibility for ensuring site security is maintained at all times and report any issues to the Area Manager.
* Ensuring that the site is maintained in clean, tidy and presentable manner.
* Ensuring Company Health & Safety Policy is adhered to at all times'
* Ensuring that all Codes of Practice are adhered to at all times.
* Management and control of contractors working on the site to ensure all work is carried out to the required specification and quality.
* Responsibility for the day to day management of farm staff, including allocation of work to ensure smooth running of farm, supervision and evaluation of performance and reporting any issues to the Area manager/HR Department.
* Responsibility for delivering the induction and training of new Employees, and monitoring throughout their probation period.
* Monitoring and report sickness and other Employee issues when they happen, and ensure appropriate cover is in place.
* Responsibility for accurate and timely completion of Employee timesheets on a weekly basis.
* Undertaking any other duties as required to fulfil the needs of the position.
* Attending training courses which are deemed appropriate by the Company and the Industry Standard Poultry Passport requirements.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

* Sound stock management background.
* Initiative and influencing skills with a critically evaluating and questioning approach.
* Ability to manage staff.
* Good organisational skills and a detailed approach to duties
* Ability to prioritise tasks
* Able to work under own initiative and as part of a team.
* Flexible approach to working as the nature of the role and the needs of the business requires working at weekends, early mornings and late evenings.

Reports to Broiler Area Manager

Salary starting at £31,000 and is dependent on experience.

Accommodation on site can be included.

Job Type: Full-time
