We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join our established Local Streets and Infrastructure team, part of the Transport and Mobility Solutions Division in the UK. The role combines managerial leadership and technical responsibilities, promotes a collaborative approach and inspires teams to deliver projects to quality, budget and timescales. You will take on a high degree of autonomy, contribute to business development, and collaborate with the wider Mott MacDonald network across the UK and overseas.
Responsibilities
* Managing the planning, design and implementation of infrastructure projects including Section 278s, bus priority, active travel, regeneration, and transport hubs.
* Managing client relationships.
* Demonstrating leadership and ensuring adherence to H&S policy and procedures.
* Leading and managing a team of engineers, delivering projects to client requirements, programme and budget.
* Mentoring and developing junior staff.
Candidate Specification
* Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline, or extensive equivalent experience.
* Chartered (or Incorporated) Engineer with a proven record of technical leadership on highway and infrastructure projects.
* Experienced in delivering multi‑disciplinary design projects, to agreed scope, programme and budget.
* Strong understanding of highway design standards (DMRB / SHW / Manual for Streets / LTN 1/20) and familiar with design tools such as AutoCAD and Civils 3D.
* Able to communicate confidently and professionally with colleagues, fellow professionals and clients at all levels (written and verbal).
* Experience of working with Design and Build Contractors.
Desirable
* Experience of managing a team of engineers and technicians.
* Experience of delivering infrastructure projects through the full lifecycle, including design and build or contractor‑led design projects.
* Experience in preparing fee proposals, contributing to business development and building client relationships, including with local authorities, government clients, private developers and contractor clients.
