The Role
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Mental Health Practitioner to join our Mahea team. This is a 40 hour per week full-time (1.0 FTE) position. Our Mahea service works with rangatahi who are struggling with mild to moderate mental health and addictions problems that are impacting their wellbeing. We awhi/support rangatahi to meet their physical, spiritual, mental, and cultural needs.
What You’ll do
* Manage a caseload of rangatahi needing community based mental health and/or AOD support
* Deliver counselling sessions and other evidence informed interventions
* Work in partnership with other members of the Mahea team to empower, motivate and build the resilience of rangatahi
* Actively network within the community to generate referrals and build strong professional relationships
You will need
* A relevant clinical qualification and full registration under a clinical body (e.g. Nurse, Social Worker, DAPAANZ, Counsellor, or other HPCA professional)
* Knowledge and experience working with youth and mental health
* A willingness and commitment to understanding the implications for Māori health within the Treaty of Waitangi
* High levels of innovation, energy, motivation and enthusiasm
* A clean, current and valid Full Driver’s License
* To pass a Children’s Worker Safety Check (including Police Vetting) with no history that would require exemption
