Apply your Python software engineering skills to mitigating the impact of climate change and other environmental challenges and take advantages of the opportunities presented by a future sustainable economy. Numerical modelling can guide companies and government organisations in adapting to changes in the natural environment whilst minimising impact to people. This successful company are developing a analytics suite to help predict such scenarios. As their team grows, they are seeking an Python Environmental Risk Modeller to join them.
Working with large and complex data sets, deriving insights, quantifying impacts, and presenting results to stakeholders. Your expertise in modelling will allow you to become a key contributor to the future evolution of the modelling suite.
You will need:
1. A 1st or 2.1 degree in a relevant subject (e.g. mathematics, natural sciences, economics, or geography), plus mostly A*s and As at A-level (or equivalent)
2. Excellent Python coding skills - developing substantial well-structured programs rather than ad-hoc scripts.
3. Experience or proven interest in applying mathematical modelling or data science techniques to areas such as climate or environmental prediction.
4. Full, existing, and unrestricted right to work in the UK
Not essential, but experience using graphical information systems (GIS) would enhance your application.
