Role details
Applications are invited for a full-time substantive Consultant post which will be based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with clinics operating at the New Victoria Hospital and Gartnavel General Hospital. The successful candidate will join a team of 17 established consultant doctors and one speciality doctor in providing care for medical inpatients at QEUH and outpatient Diabetes and Endocrine clinics across the three sites. There will also be a contribution to the on-call General Medicine rota which will include weekend activity in medical HDU, continuing care for diabetes/endocrine and GIM inpatients in one of the department's 3 wards and contribution to medical receiving.
Responsibilities
* Provide care for medical inpatients at QEUH and outpatient Diabetes and Endocrine clinics across three sites.
* Contribute to the on-call General Medicine rota, including weekend activity in medical HDU, continuing care for diabetes/endocrine and GIM inpatients in one of the department\'s 3 wards, and medical receiving.
* Train general practitioner colleagues in the management of Diabetes and its complications as part of a Consultant-led service.
* Undertake 3-4 clinics per week (Diabetes and Endocrinology, combined new and return) with opportunity to develop a sub-specialty interest.
* Support the development of services across Clyde sites and may hold clinics on multiple sites depending on service need.
* Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching within the department.
Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration, a license to practice, and eligibility for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register.
* UK-trained candidates should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT. CESR route doctors are eligible to apply for a substantive post once CESR is awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training. MRCP UK or equivalent qualification is essential.
