The Argyle Arms - Bartender / Front of house
We are looking for only the most committed, friendly & reliable staff, to become a permanent fixture of our award winning pub.
Located in the Preston Park area of Brighton, just a few minutes walk from the vibrant Preston Circus & London Road, you will find our little back street pub tucked away on the corner of Argyle Road & Campbell Road. Recently awarded as The Best Pub in East Sussex, at the Pub & Bar Awards 2025. We need you to be part of the pubs growing success.
We are recruiting 2 Part time and one Full time experienced bar staff / front of house with an immediate start available. Previous pub experience is essential for this role.
You will work alongside the owners building a strong relationship to assist in the growth of the business.
You will be required to use your own initiative at times. Work as part of the small team, and be confident enough to work on your own (once comfortable to do so) on quieter shifts.
Responsibilities will vary depending on previous experience. The successful candidate will take part in the general day to day aspects of the pub.
Assisting in the following:
(experience in each of these roles is preferred but not essential).
* Front of house, greeting customers and guiding them
* The perfect pour (draught pints and cask ale) minimising wastage
* Mixology (or a small amount of cocktail knowledge will suffice)
* Food service / table service
* General cleaning
* Cellar maintenance, changing kegs and gas (training given)
It is our goal to ensure all customers are greeted with a smile, and a warm welcome. All customers are served in a speedy, friendly, professional manor at the bar and ensuring the perfect pour with each and every drink. Ensuring all areas are kept clean, tidy and safe for other staff and customers. Training will be given in all aspects of the job, regardless of experience.
We are looking for a reliable member of staff with good work ethic & initiative, an eye for cleanliness and able to communicate with customers whilst still getting your work done. There is potential for increase in hours and pay rate dependant on a few factors.
We are an "above living wage employer". Regardless of your age the starting pay (after trial periods and training) is currently £12.50 per hour with opportunity to increase this in future with job retention, reliability and progression. Job retention bonus schemes and yearly bonuses are provided.

This role could progress to supervisory or potentially managerial with more benefits further down the line. Depending on progression and whether you would be looking to fill either of those roles in future.
Our current opening hours are as follows:
Monday to Thursday 3pm - Midnight
Friday & Saturday 1pm - 12:30am-ish
Sunday 12pm - 10pm-ish
