Overview
Specialist Occupational Therapist in Acute Neurology – University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will be part of the Acute Neurology Occupational Therapy team, assessing and treating stroke and neurological patients and supporting service delivery. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave, or could be a secondment for internal candidates.
Responsibilities
* Provide specialist occupational therapy interventions using an evidence-based, flexible and patient-centred approach within a Multi-Disciplinary Team to meet health and social care needs.
* Undertake a specialist OT role for patients with complex health and social care needs within the clinical team.
* Provide supervision and leadership for relevant junior OT staff in conjunction with the team leader.
* Participate in planning, development and evaluation of Occupational Therapy services within a designated specialist team.
* Provide supervision and training for students on practice placement.
* Deliver an excellent OT service across all pathways with a flexible and adaptable approach.
Qualifications and experience
* Passion for Occupational Therapy, excellent communication skills, and ability to work autonomously and within a MDT.
* Experience in the acute setting with patients with acute neurological conditions preferred; or an experienced Band 5 looking to progress to Band 6.
