About the Role
O'Neill & Brennan are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading civil engineering contractor for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join a major, high-profile infrastructure project.
This is a full-time, site-based role supporting the delivery of a large-scale scheme with significant client interface and strict HSE expectations. The successful candidate will work closely alongside an existing SHE Advisor, helping to maintain and drive high standards across a busy and demanding operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
-Provide day-to-day health & safety support and guidance to site teams
-Engage with operatives and subcontractors to promote a positive safety culture
-Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with HSE legislation and company procedures
-Assist in the preparation, review, and implementation of RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements)
-Support the permit-to-work system and ensure appropriate controls are followed
-Carry out regular site inspections, audits, and safety tours
-Assist with incident reporting, investigations, and close-out actions
-Maintain accurate records and support data input into internal systems
-Support client-facing reporting and interface where required
-Contribute to continuous improvement and uphold high HSE standards across site
Requirements
-Proven experience in a Health & Safety role within civil engineering or construction
-Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation and industry best practice
-Experience working on large-scale infrastructure or complex construction projects
-NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) as a minimum
-Valid CSCS card (appropriate to role)
-Strong communication skills with the ability to engage at all levels on site
-Proactive, organised, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Desirable
-NEBOSH Construction Certificate or Diploma
-IOSH membership (TechIOSH/GradIOSH or higher)
-Experience in high-profile projects with strong client involvement
-Previous involvement in audits and external inspections
