About the Role: As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work alongside teaching and pastoral staff to support students who present with challenging or complex behaviours. Your focus will be on de-escalation, positive reinforcement and helping young people develop the emotional regulation skills they need to engage successfully with their learning.
Responsibilities:
* Provide targeted behaviour support to individual pupils and small groups
* Implement behaviour management strategies in line with school policy
* De-escalate challenging situations calmly and effectively
* Build positive, consistent relationships with students to encourage trust and engagement
* Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to share observations and progress
* Support pupils in developing self-regulation and social skills
* Contribute to the review and implementation of individual behaviour plans
Requirements:
* Experience supporting children or young people with social, emotional or behavioural difficulties (SEMH)
* A sound understanding of behaviour management strategies and trauma-informed practice
* Patient, resilient and able to remain composed under pressure
* Strong relationship-building skills with both students and colleagues
* A proactive and reflective approach to supporting individual needs
* Relevant qualifications or training in behaviour support (desirable)
