Part Time (17.5 hours per week)/Term Time/Permanent/Aberdeen City Campus
Salary: £19,755.68 - £21,914.00 pro rata per annum
Actual Salary: £8,909.02 - £9,882.37 per annum
Working Hours: - Monday to Friday 18:00 – 21:30
North East Scotland College is home to bustling training kitchens where our students work towards professional qualifications in cookery and hospitality. To keep standards high and ensure our learners can thrive in a safe, professional environment, we are looking for a dedicated Cleaning Operative to join our team.
Reporting to the Curriculum Manager, you will play a vital part in the smooth running of our specialist training kitchens. Your focus will be to ensure that the cleaning of our specialist catering equipment, utensils, and kitchen areas is carried out to a meticulously high standard.
You will:
1. Support staff and students by maintaining a clean, hygienic, and safe environment.
2. Take responsibility for the cleaning and care of professional kitchen equipment, ensuring it is ready for use in teaching and training activities.
3. Assist with maintaining tidy, organised workspaces that reflect the professional standards expected in the catering industry.
4. Work as part of a busy, supportive team but also take initiative to manage tasks independently.
We are looking for someone with a great eye for detail, a strong work ethic, and pride in maintaining exceptional standards. Ideally, you will have:
5. Experience in cleaning or facilities roles, preferably within catering or hospitality (though training will be provided).
6. A willingness to undertake training in safe working practices and hygiene standards.
7. The ability to work well with staff, students, and visitors in a professional environment.
8. A positive attitude and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

QUALIFICATIONS
No specific qualifications required but able to read and write
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
9. Basic knowledge of housekeeping duties
10. Knowledge of hygiene regulations and/or willingness to undergo relevant training.
11. Knowledge of manual handling techniques and/or willingness to undertake training.
12. Knowledge of basic relevant health and safety issues.
