About Our Client
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and strategic HR leader to join a senior HR, OD and Transformation Leadership Team as Assistant Director - Reward & Recognition. Initial 6-month contract, offered on a rolling weekly basis.This is a critical interim role, responsible for shaping and delivering a fair, inclusive and sustainable reward strategy that supports workforce performance, engagement and organisational compliance within a large and complex public sector environment.
Job Description
As Assistant Director of Reward and Recognition, you will:
3. Lead the development and delivery of a whole‑organisation Reward and Recognition Strategy
4. Provide strategic leadership across pay, job evaluation, reward policy and compliance
5. Oversee equal pay risk, governance and legislative compliance
6. Lead collective bargaining and negotiations with Trade Unions
7. Deliver workforce cost modelling and insights to support organisational decision making
8. Drive continuous improvement and service excellence across reward and compliance functions
9. Act as a trusted deputy to the Director of Industrial & Employee Relations
The Successful Applicant
We are looking for a senior HR professional who brings:
10. Significant experience leading reward, pay or recognition functions at scale
11. Strong knowledge of local government/public sector frameworks, including equal pay and job evaluation
12. Proven ability to lead transformation and organisational change programmes
13. Experience of working with trade unions and managing complex negotiations
14. A strategic, analytical and politically astute approach, with the ability to influence at senior level
15. CIPD Level 7 (or equivalent experience)
