SEMH Support Assistant – Nurture Young Minds in Newcastle

If you’ve worked with children facing exclusion, trauma, or emotional needs, this could be your next step.
What the role involves
1. Working closely with pupils who experience anxiety, behavioural challenges, or trauma
2. Supporting emotional regulation and helping students stay focused on learning
3. Building trust and offering consistent, calm support in often unpredictable situations
4. Adapting quickly to different school environments and student needs
5. Responding with empathy and professionalism, even under pressure
6. Being a steady presence for students who need structure and reassurance
Who we’re looking for
7. Someone proactive, resilient, and emotionally intelligent
8. Comfortable supporting students with complex behavioural or emotional needs
9. Ideally experienced in SEMH, SEN or PRU settings
10. Confident working in trauma-informed environments
11. Holds a current DBS on the Update Service
12. Has the legal right to work in the UK

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
