Are you ready to join a team of talented and innovative engineers within our UK Transmission & Distribution business and grow your career?
The Transmission & Distribution department delivers project management, design and owners engineer roles for electrical power projects at transmission and distribution voltages across the UK and globally. The focus of the team is large-scale grid infrastructure, grid connections, and private networks.
Due to continued growth across a breadth of projects and clients, we are looking for an ambitious Senior Electrical Substation Design Engineer to join the team. This is a fantastic time to join us and apply your skills across a multi-disciplinary, innovative team and work within a varied portfolio of groundbreaking projects.The work will be varied and there will be a lot of opportunity to learn in this role. A key project you will be working on is the UK National Grid's Great Grid Partnership; being part of a £9bn Enterprise partnership that will connect clean energy to homes and businesses across England and Wales. Here’s what you’ll do:
1. Design Primary Plant layouts and schematics for HV substations
2. Produce equipment specifications for HV Plant and associated equipment
3. Provide engineering design input to major infrastructure projects
4. Prepare technical specifications and documentation
5. Undertake an Owners’ Engineer role on HV substation/Cable and OHL projects
6. Provide HV design input to renewable energy projects e.g., Battery storage, Solar, Hydro and Wind generation
7. Coordinate across multi-disciplinary engineering environments and project managers, as well as conduct site visits/inspections to ensure design integrity.

Qualifications
Ready to push the limits of what’s possible?
Here’s what we’re looking for:
8. A Degree in Electrical Engineering
9. Experience of working on High Voltage design projects
10. Experience of working with major utilities or developers
11. Experience as a designer or as project engineer
12. Experience of developing specifications or detailed designs for substation control systems, transformers, GIS, and AIS switchgear.
13. The ability to work flexibly across multiple projects
14. Experience in technical report writing
15. Fluency in English
16. Full driving license and access to a personal vehicle as site visits may be required as part of this role
Ideally you'll have:
17. Experience of working on multi-discipline engineering projects
18. Chartered accreditation or working toward status
19. Consultancy experience
20. Experience in reviewing review detailed designs & witnessing construction site activities.
