The Head of Planning is responsible for leading the planning function to ensure the availability and profile of chicken meet operational needs for 100% customer fulfillment, while adhering to quality, environmental, and poultry welfare standards. The role involves close collaboration with Commercial and Operational areas to drive revenue and profit aligned with the company's growth plans.
Responsibilities and Duties
* Implement systems and processes to align production plans with optimized bird numbers and weights to meet customer orders.
* Build collaborative relationships across the business to create a customer-focused culture.
* Manage and mentor a high-performing team with a focus on continuous improvement, succession planning, and talent development.
* Work with Commercial, Agriculture, and Operations to develop mid-term forecasts based on customer needs and operational capacity.
* Use data analysis to maximize stock and operational efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities
* Ensure timely delivery of weekly and daily production plans by area, line, and product.
* Conduct short and medium-term forecasting.
* Manage and resolve issues with stakeholders including Commercial, Operations, and Transport.
* Coordinate with the Agriculture team on bird health issues affecting production and quality.
* Investigate complaints, ensure compliance, document, and resolve non-conformances, and assist with customer traces.
* Plan for catching team, transport schedules, and farm hygiene in coordination with relevant departments.
* Complete licensing paperwork for live bird transportation and slaughter.
* Maintain accurate data in live databases and files.
* Participate in daily and weekly meetings to communicate with stakeholders.
* Procure additional live birds as needed from external sources.
* Adhere to the agricultural budget and seek cost-effective solutions.
* Manage and motivate the team to achieve performance goals and develop team members.
* Monitor workplace risks and hazards to ensure health and safety.
* Act as an emergency contact point.
Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 17:00.
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent.
Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 per year.
