Labcorp Drug Development is seeking a Clinical Veterinarian to join our team at Harrogate, UK. Positions are available for veterinarians at all levels. Reporting to the Associate Director / Site Lead Veterinarian, the role involves providing veterinary healthcare for laboratory animals, advising on animal care and maintenance, and training technicians.
The Harrogate site is our largest pre-clinical facility in the UK, centrally located within walking distance of the town center and well-connected by public transport, including trains and buses to Leeds, York, and Manchester. The town offers a historic and relaxing environment, famous for quality shopping and afternoon teas, with notable spas like the Turkish Baths in the Royal Baths building.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide medical and surgical care for laboratory animals, ensuring humane support with minimal supervision.
* Assist in ensuring compliance with animal care and welfare regulations.
* Train staff and participate in externship programs.
* Serve on the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, as needed.
* Perform physical and ophthalmic examinations on laboratory animals as per protocols and SOPs.
* Report and resolve animal care concerns.
* Participate in client calls and site visits.
* Manage complex cases independently.
* Develop skills in veterinary procedures requested by clients.
* Mentor veterinary and animal operations staff.
* Provide scientific expertise on animal health, biology, and research methodologies.
Education
* Graduate of RCVS-accredited veterinary school or equivalent.
Experience
* Preferred 3 years of veterinary clinical experience.
* Membership in the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (for UK applicants).
* Knowledge of small and large research animals.
* Ability to work in a laboratory setting with animals.
