T he Opportunity We currently have an exciting opportunity for a permanent Chief Mate to join us, working onboard our dredger which operates from our Portsmouth Wharf and deployed on short coastal passages. As second-in-command, youll be part of a dynamic, professional and supportive team - working 3 weeks on and 3 weeks off rotation. With your experience as a Chief Mate/ Officer youll help ensure that the vessel is operated in a safe and efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and regulations at all times. You will support the master of the vessel in all aspects of day-to-day operation of the vessel. As the Head of Deck Department, you will be responsible for organisation and management of crew with respect to operational, safety and maintenance tasks. As Safety Officer, you will be responsible for checking and maintaining safety equipment and carrying out safety drills and training sessions. You will be performing navigational duties and undertake the dredging operations as required by the Master. Who you are Youll be a proven leader from your past experience as a Chief Mate and confident to make decisions Youll be passionate towards Health & Safety, and help ensure that the highest level of care and safety is followed at all times. Youll already hold; A UK Certificate of Competency (CoC) or a UK CEC (minimum Chief Mate Unlimited) ENG1 or equivalent Seafarer medical fitness certificate All valid STCW certification Youll be willing to take further certificates such as Pilot Exemptions Certificate (PEC) Benefits ??
