Job Description – Underwriter (Broker Business)

Job title: Underwriter (Broker Business)

Department: Broker Business

Location: City of London

Reporting to: Head of Broker Business


Key Responsibility

Responsible for trading, underwriting and service activities, the objective of this role is to offer consistent quality service to customers, deliver satisfactory and profitable results for the company, and develop good business relationship with our broker panel.

* Develop good business relationship with new and existing brokers.
* Underwrite commercial combined/SME risks within the Broker Business team. This includes quoting new business, and underwriting existing business (MTAs and renewals).
* Responsible for managing and serving a panel of assign brokers’ account.
* Negotiate pricing and terms with brokers in line with Underwriting Authority.
* Ensure accurate policy documentation issued to brokers.
* Visit brokers as required to develop business and maintain existing book / cross‑selling company’s products.
* Produce monthly reports for renewals and provide accurate analysis.
* Identify poorly performed accounts and take remedial actions as needed.
* Liaison with Claims team and prepare relevant claim reports.
* Liaise with Finance team on daily broker / client enquiries and assist Finance team on premium receivable as part of key tasks.
* Liaise with IT team for system enhancement and the test of new & existing products.


Requirements

* Over 3-year experiences in insurance underwriting within commercial/SME lines.
* Good understanding and knowledge of insurance industry.
* Knowledge and experience of underwriting insurance risks.
* Knowledge of relevant regulatory practices and legislations in the industry.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Good time management skills to meet deadlines.
* Good communications and negotiation skills.
* Certificate in insurance (Cert CII)
* MS Office skills such as Excel and PPT etc.
