Responsibilities include:
1. Being courteous to patients, visitors, physicians, volunteers, and other staff.
2. Assuming responsibility for designated laboratory areas.
3. Performing diagnostic tests in blood bank, hematology, serology, chemistry, coagulation, clinical, microscopy, and bacteriology.
4. Carrying out and following up on organic and inorganic diagnostic tests.
5. Drawing venous or capillary blood from inpatients and outpatients.
6. Packaging specimens with relevant information.
7. Arranging for delivery to reference laboratories.
8. Prioritizing requests based on urgency and patient condition.
9. Recording and verifying test results.
10. Transmitting accurate reports and results promptly to physicians and nursing units.
11. Reporting charges and billing information correctly.
12. Completing proficiency surveys for unknown samples and submitting reports.
13. Preparing and setting up equipment for testing.
14. Ensuring proper calibration and performing routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.
15. Staying updated on advancements in laboratory procedures and equipment.
16. Wearing facility-provided identification badges at all times.
17. Performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications include:
* Associate’s degree in science from an accredited institution and completion of an approved medical technician internship.
* ASCP eligibility.
* Preferred: Computer skills.
Purpose of Position: Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Manager, plan, set up, perform, and evaluate diagnostic tests and procedures, including phlebotomy duties.
Schedule Details: TEMP (up to 5 months), 32 hours/week, rotating evenings (3 p.m. - 11 p.m.), with coverage from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., including weekends and holidays.
