Semi skilled Operative Deeside With a track record of 50 years in the nuclear energy sector, Boccard is ideally placed to serve this new era of nuclear as a leading specialist in engineering, manufacturing, construction and maintenance across the energy industry. To support our continued growth, Boccard are looking fora Semi skilled Operative to work at our Deeside location. Reporting to the Materials Manager, the role will p rovide day-to-day support to manufacturing and warehouse operations, including manual handling, operating machinery and tools, and occasional driving responsibilities. The position works across engineering, stores, goods inwards and outwards, materials management, and stock control to maintain an efficient flow of materials and support production demands. We are looking forindividuals with a willing and can do, positive attitude, who thrive in a fast paced, busy team. Applicants must be committed to carrying out work in line with all safety requirements and standards. Previous experience of working in a fabrication facility in a highly regulated, ideally nuclear industry would be advantageous. Applicants must be computer literate, have good communication skills and enjoy working as part of a diverse team. Organised with the ability to prioritise workload effectively, applicants will work on a variety of tasks using different machinery and processes including FLT, slings, banksman duties on a daily basis. Working in a newly set up manufacturing facility, which is fully digitalised, the environment is clean, efficient with the overriding focus on safe working practices. Hours of work are 07:00 to 15:30 Mon to Thurs and 07:00 to 12:30 Friday. A driving license is essential. Principle responsibilities Material & Stock Coordination Ensure all material requirements are met by liaising with the Management Team and ensuring products are received, booked in, stored, packaged, and despatched safely and in accordance with company procedures and expectations. 2. Goods Inwards & Outwards Control Control and manage incoming and outgoing goods, verifying quality and quantity on receipt and despatch, and promptly investigating and resolving any discrepancies. 3. Storage & Inventory Management Store raw materials and finished goods safely and efficiently, maintaining product protection, traceability, and optimal use of storage capacity. 4. Component Identification & Drawing Interpretation Accurately identify supports, pipe spools, and associated components using drawings, specifications, labelling, and supporting documentation, ensuring full understanding of technical instructions prior to progression of work. 5. Kitting & Material Preparation Kit and prepare materials required for the fabrication of steel pipe supports and related mechanical components, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and readiness for production. 6. Quality Control & Inspection Conduct visual inspections of materials and completed works to confirm compliance with required quality standards prior to progression or despatch. 7. Health, Safety & Compliance Adhere fully to all company policies and procedures, including Health & Safety regulations and Equality & Diversity standards, always maintaining a safe working environment. 8. Equipment Operation Operate all machinery, tools, lifting equipment, and handling equipment safely and efficiently in line with training, risk assessments, and company guidelines. 9. Waste Reduction & Resource Efficiency Minimise waste by using, handling, and disposing of raw materials and consumables responsibly and efficiently. 10. Reporting & Escalation Report all anomalies, hazards, defects, or non-conformances to the Materials Manager and halt further activity until appropriately reviewed and authorised. 11. Continuous Improvement Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, actively supporting operational efficiency and best practice across the department. 12. Driving & General Responsibilities Safely operate the company vehicle for delivery and collection of goods as required, support training activities where competent, and undertake any other reasonable duties within the overall scope of the role.
