We are a specialist steel fabricator serving the construction, infrastructure, telecommunications, renewables, and mechanical engineering sectors, delivering high-quality structural steelwork and metalwork solutions.\n\nThis role has been developed as a Modern Apprenticeship in Digital Applications, providing structured training and workplace experience. The apprentice will work towards the Diploma in Digital Applications (SCQF Level 6) while developing practical estimating and digital administration skills that support the commercial and pre-construction function of the business.\n\nThis opportunity is ideal for:\n· An individual new to estimating and keen to develop digital and analytical skills\n· Full training and mentoring will be provided\n\nKey Responsibilities\nThe apprentice will develop competence in the following areas:\n\nEstimating & Commercial Support\n· Assist with the preparation of tenders and quotation submissions\n· Review drawings, specifications, and project documentation to understand scope of works\n· Carry out measurement and Quantity Take-Offs from digital drawings\n· Support the production of Bills of Quantities\n· Help build tender prices using specifications, programmes, and cost data\n· Collect, record, and distribute tender feedback\n\nDigital & Data Skills (Core to the Apprenticeship)\n· Use Microsoft Excel to input, analyse, and present cost and quantity data\n· Maintain accurate digital records and documentation\n· Use digital systems to support estimating, reporting, and communication\n· Produce basic digital reports and spreadsheets to support management decisions\n· Apply data protection and cyber security best practices\n\nCommunication & Organisation\n· Communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, and suppliers using digital tools\n· Work collaboratively within the estimating and wider business team\n· Manage tasks and deadlines using digital planning and organisational tools\n· Adhere to company procedures and quality standards\n\nGeneral Duties\n· Comply with our policies and procedures\n· Undertake other relevant duties as required\n\nTraining Provided\n· Modern Apprenticeship: Diploma in Digital Applications (SCQF Level 6)\n· Structured off-the-job training with a training provider\n· Ongoing workplace mentoring and on-the-job learning\n· Development of transferable digital, numeracy, and problem-solving skills\n\nSkills & Personal Qualities\n\n· Interest in digital technology, data, and computer-based work\n· Strong numeracy and problem-solving skills\n· Well organised with good time management\n· Confident communicator and team player\n· Willingness to learn and develop new skills\n· Prior estimating experience not required\n\nBenefits\n\n· Competitive salary with annual progression\n· Company pension scheme\n· On-site parking\n· Fully funded Modern Apprenticeship and qualifications\n· Long-term career development opportunities within estimating and commercial roles You will learn how to work both individually and as part of a team in a busy office environment.
