Role Overview
* Deliver engaging and challenging English lessons across KS3–KS5
* Teach both Literature and Language in line with GCSE and A Level specifications
* Inspire pupils to develop a lifelong appreciation of reading, writing and critical thinking
* Plan and deliver creative, well‑structured lessons that stretch and support all learners
* Monitor, assess and track pupil progress, providing clear and constructive feedback
* Prepare pupils thoroughly for examinations and coursework components
* Contribute to curriculum development and departmental planning
* Lead or support enrichment activities such as debating clubs, creative writing groups or theatre visits
* Play an active role in the wider pastoral and academic life of the school

* A dedicated mentor and induction tutor following the statutory Early Career Framework (ECF)
* Reduced timetable and protected planning, preparation and assessment (PPA) time

English Teacher – Candidate Profile
* Holds (or is due to achieve) Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Has a degree in English or a closely related discipline

* Can inspire analytical thinking and confident written and verbal communication
* Reflects thoughtfully on practice and seeks continual professional development
* Possesses strong classroom management and organisational skills
* Is committed to high academic and pastoral standards
