The role
As a Production Controller – Mechanical, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Be part of a growing team at the heart of the UK’s Submarine maintenance programme. Day-to-day, you’ll be accountable for planning and delivering mechanical work packages for the Astute-class Submarine Deep Maintenance Period (DMP), ensuring safe, compliant, and high-quality execution through effective coordination, scheduling, and issue resolution.
1. Plan mechanical work within designated submarine zones, aligning with project scope and timelines
2. Break down tasks into manageable work packages following local procedures and company standards
3. Represent mechanical production input in planning sessions, contributing to accurate scheduling and coordination
4. Provide detailed data on capacity, resources, and activities to ensure operational commitments are fully reflected in schedules
5. Uphold Health, Safety, and Nuclear Safety standards, actively supporting continuous improvement initiatives
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Production Controller - Mechanical
6. In-depth expertise in Marine Mechanical systems, including comprehensive knowledge of release logic interdependencies
7. Strong proficiency in scheduling, work breakdown structures, and aligning task sequences with project plans
8. Advanced understanding of production techniques for the repair and maintenance of marine mechanical systems
9. Solid grasp of regulatory compliance requirements and their impact on operational enablement and delivery timelines
10. Deep knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, best practices, and practical implementation in high-risk environments
Qualifications for the Production Controller - Mechanical
11. NVQ Level 3 in Engineering or equivalent.
12. ILM Level 3 or equivalent. – Institute of Leadership and Management
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
