About the Opportunity
Sanderson is working with an innovative, fast-scaling technology start-up delivering cutting-edge solutions across the public sector and national security space. This is a rare opportunity to join a growing team of engineers who are passionate about delivering innovative solutions to central government departments and driving public safety.
As a DevOps Engineer, you’ll play a hands‑on role in designing, building, and optimising secure cloud environments. You’ll help drive modern engineering practices and scalable DevOps solutions supporting some of the UK’s most important digital transformation programmes.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for secure system delivery
* Manage infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tooling
* Collaborate closely with software, cloud, and security teams to deliver integrated solutions
* Support and enhance containerisation, orchestration, and automation platforms
* Monitor and troubleshoot environments to ensure high availability and performance
* Contribute to continuous improvement of DevOps standards and processes
* Hands‑on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps
* Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation)
* Strong background in Linux systems and scripting (Bash or Python)
* Exposure to containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift)
* Understanding of cloud services (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
* Experience working in secure or regulated environments
* Collaborative mindset with strong problem‑solving and communication skills
* Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (ELK, Grafana, Prometheus)
* Experience integrating security and compliance automation into DevOps workflows
* Background in networking or infrastructure security
* Exposure to serverless technologies or microservices architecture
Security Clearance Requirements
Due to the nature of this work, candidates must be eligible for national security clearance (DV).
To meet this requirement, applicants must:
* Be sole British citizens (dual nationality not permitted)
* Have not spent more than 30 consecutive days outside the UK in the past 10 years
* Have No criminal record
* Have No significant financial irregularities (e.g., bankruptcy or unresolved debt issues)
