Overview
The Combined Authority is recruiting a highly motivated Legal Officer to join the Legal, Governance & Compliance Service Team. This team provides liaison legal support for the Bus Franchising and Mass Transit programmes, working with internal Combined Authority legal teams and external legal partners to ensure a complete legal offer for successful programme delivery.
Responsibilities
* Negotiate, draft and review a wide range of documentation and provide advice to stakeholders, demonstrating initiative and judgement.
* Work collaboratively with the Legal team's lawyers on complex matters, including drafting, research and providing sound legal advice, writing concise reports, responding to communications and presenting in relation to casework.
* Apply strong communication, influencing and analytical skills to provide solution‑focused advice that demonstrates a thorough understanding of the Combined Authority’s aims and objectives.
Qualifications
* Paralegal / CILEX qualification (Level 3 Diploma) or degree with Law conversion qualification or law graduate.
* Practical experience of performing similar responsibilities.
* Experience of legal research, drafting and advice.
* Demonstrable knowledge and experience within one of the key practice areas: property, projects, procurement & contracts, transport services.
