Overview
A friendly and enthusiastic individual is needed to join the Hard Brock Café team at Brockenhurst College on an annualised hours, permanent basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £24,617 pro rata. The Hard Brock Café operates term-time only and serves students, staff and visitors, handles cash and cashless payments, assists with food preparation and performs general cleaning duties. The role is based within the New Forest National Park environment, with the college attracting around 2,800 sixth-form students each year. The successful candidate will be available to start 02 September 2025.
Experience is not necessary, only a willingness to help maintain our excellent provision.
Responsibilities
* Operation of EPOS tills including processing cash, card and cashless payments
* Assisting in the provision of hospitality for college meetings, visitors, functions, etc.
* Assisting in the preparation of foodstuffs
* Service of food and beverages
* Maintaining the cleanliness of the food preparation areas
* Helping to maintain the appearance of dining and service areas by clearing and cleaning as necessary
* Washing up and general kitchen cleaning
* Assisting in the preparation and maintenance of counter displays
* Any other such duties, commensurate with the grade of post, that may reasonably be required
As our Hard Brock Café Assistant, you’ll
* Be confident handling money and taking card payments
* Be flexible and thrive in a customer facing role
* Be a friendly, energetic, team player
* Have a desire to work in a busy catering environment with a commitment to a high standard of work
* Obtain L2 Food Hygiene and allergen awareness qualifications within 1 month of appointment
* Complete college-specific safeguarding, health & safety, etc. training
