Key Responsibilities Provide day-to-day care, supervision, and support to children and young people in line with their individual care or support plans. Build trusting relationships that promote emotional security, confidence, and self-esteem. Support children in developing life skills such as communication, hygiene, education, and social interaction. Assist with school attendance, homework, and participation in recreational and community activities. Encourage positive behaviour through consistent boundaries, routines, and role modelling. Respond appropriately to challenging behaviour and crisis situations, following behaviour support and safeguarding procedures. Work collaboratively with families, social workers, teachers, and other professionals to support the child’s wellbeing. Maintain accurate records, daily notes, and incident reports in accordance with organisational and regulatory standards. Uphold safeguarding and child protection policies at all times. Strong communication and active listening skills. Ability to build positive relationships based on trust and respect. Understanding of child development, trauma-informed care, and behaviour management. Team player with good organisational and time management skills. Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in challenging situations. Current driver’s licence and reliable transport (if required). Desirable Experience Experience working in residential care, youth work, or child protection settings. Knowledge of trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches. Familiarity with relevant legislation, safeguarding practices, and children’s rights.
