Tourist Information Centre Supervisor
Job description
Do you have the passion and people skills to be the welcoming face of Cleethorpes, creating memorable experiences for every visitor you meet?
Are you ready to lead a frontline team that plays a vital role in promoting our coastline, attractions and open spaces as a destination of choice?
Are you passionate about creating outstanding visitor experiences and championing the unique appeal of Cleethorpes and wider North East Lincolnshire? We’re looking for a proactive and people‑focused Tourist Information Supervisor to lead our frontline Tourist Information team.
This role plays a key part in ensuring visitors, residents and local businesses receive a warm, knowledgeable and professional service. As a visible presence within the resort, you will enhance the experience of those discovering our coastline, attractions and open spaces, helping to promote the area as a welcoming destination of choice.
What will your day look like?
As Tourist Information Supervisor, you will oversee the day‑to‑day operation of our tourist information service, ensuring consistently high standards of customer care and visitor support. You will lead a small team delivering accurate, up‑to‑date and engaging information across a range of channels based within our Tourist Information Centre in Cleethorpes.
Your work will support the wider visitor economy by promoting attractions, events and activities across the Discover NEL offer, strengthening the area’s reputation as a vibrant and enjoyable place to visit.
You will also act as part of the “eyes and ears” of the Council within the resort—maintaining a daily presence, engaging confidently with visitors, supporting safe use of beaches and public spaces, and proactively contributing to a positive, safe and well‑managed environment.
The role is customer facing and will work a shift pattern that includes weekends and bank holidays.
1. Based at our Tourist Information Centre you will be leading, supervising and supporting a small team of Tourist Information Officers.
2. Ensuring enquiries—whether face‑to‑face, by phone, email or digitally—are handled promptly, accurately and proactively.
3. Keeping information sources up to date, including website content, social media, printed materials and other publicity channels.
4. Promoting the full Discover NEL destination offer by recommending attractions, events and activities through frontline engagement, social media and distribution of materials.
5. Supporting effective relationships with local businesses, partner organisations, visitors and residents to strengthen engagement across the area.
Who are we looking for?
You’ll bring enthusiasm for the visitor economy, strong people skills and experience supervising staff in a customer‑facing environment. You’ll be comfortable working proactively within a busy resort, engaging confidently with the public, and maintaining high standards under pressure.
You’ll also have:
6. Experience managing or supervising frontline customer service teams.
7. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
8. Excellent communication skills across multiple channels.
9. A positive, solutions‑focused approach and willingness to embrace change.
10. Confidence in building relationships with residents, visitors, businesses and partners.
11. A commitment to delivering an exceptional, inclusive visitor experience.
Above all, you’ll enjoy helping people discover the very best of North East Lincolnshire.
Why join us?
By joining our team as Tourist Information Supervisor, you’ll play a vital role in showcasing the very best of Cleethorpes and North East Lincolnshire. You’ll lead a passionate, people-focused team dedicated to delivering outstanding visitor experiences, while enjoying a varied, engaging role at the heart of a vibrant coastal resort. This is your chance to make a real impact—supporting the visitor economy, working closely with local businesses and partners, and helping shape a welcoming, safe and memorable destination for everyone who comes through our doors.
