Due to continued growth and increased programme demand within our Manchester Immunoassay laboratories, Intertek is expanding its technical team and recruiting for a Scientist – Immunoassay to support ongoing bioanalytical delivery.
ABOUT YOU
As a Scientist – Immunoassay, Intertek are currently recruiting for a motivated and technically capable scientist to join their expanding team in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced immunoassay scientist to develop and apply their method development and validation expertise within a highly regulated, client-facing bioanalytical environment.
Primarily, the role will work as an integral part of the Immunoassay team, contributing to high-quality analytical delivery while taking ownership of method development and validation activities across a diverse portfolio of projects.

Required skills and experience:
Degree (BSc / MSc / PhD) in Biology, Chemistry or a related scientific discipline
Strong experience working within a GLP/GCP regulated bioanalytical laboratory environment
Proven immunoassay method development and bioanalytical method validation experience
Practical experience supporting PK, ADA (immunogenicity) and biomarker assays
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with independent technical thinking
Clear written and verbal communication skills, including client-facing interactions
Strong numeracy skills with the ability to calculate, analyse and tabulate data accurately
Good IT literacy and experience working with laboratory data systems
Experience training/mentoring junior staff and supporting knowledge sharing
Experience with MSD and/or Gyrolab platforms is desirable
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
On a daily basis, you will be responsible for the development, optimisation and validation of immunoassays supporting pre-clinical and clinical bioanalysis within a regulated laboratory environment.
Working within a close-knit and collaborative team, you will gain exposure to the full lifecycle of assay development from initial method design through validation and sample analysis, with increasing autonomy as your experience develops.
Key activities:
Design, execute and optimise immunoassay method development experiments
Lead method validation activities in line with regulatory and industry guidance
Generate, interpret and report high-quality analytical data
Troubleshoot technical challenges and recommend appropriate solutions
Communicate results and technical approaches directly with clients
Support and mentor junior analysts, sharing technical knowledge and best practice
Ensure all work is conducted in compliance with GLP/GCP and internal quality systems
Work priorities agreed with Team Leader, with growing autonomy as experience develops
