The role
As Business Development Manager (Smart Buildings SaaS), you will lead solution-driven selling for smart building technology solutions. You’ll be a credible, consultative commercial lead comfortable in technical conversations and equally confident translating them into a value story that resonates with senior stakeholders.
You will own the sales process end-to-end, from prospecting through to close, and you’ll also play a key role in expanding route-to-market by identifying, recruiting, and enabling channel partners and Value-Added Resellers (VARs).
What you’ll be doing
You’ll build and manage a pipeline of direct prospects, running opportunities through each stage with discipline and pace. You’ll educate prospects and clients through web demos and in-person meetings, shape tailored proposals, and stay close to the detail — from value proposition and commercial structuring through to negotiation and close.
You’ll take ownership of RFP/RFQ responses, including proposal strategy and writing, and you’ll maintain a strong understanding of the competitive landscape so you can position the solution to win. You’ll also maintain and grow relationships with existing clients, identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities where appropriate.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for a proven technical seller with 10+ years’ experience, including field sales and complex stakeholder management. You’ll ideally have a B.S. in Engineering, or significant hands-on experience across HVAC, smart buildings, controls, and facilities.
You’ll bring strong strategic and analytical capability, excellent communication skills, and a forward-thinking mindset with real ownership. You should also have a solid understanding of software development processes and technologies — enough to sell credibly and collaborate effectively with technical teams.
Experience selling energy efficiency, engineering, building control, or sustainability solutions is highly desirable. Exposure to healthcare, higher education, and commercial/corporate real estate verticals is also a strong advantage.
