We are seeking an experienced Customs Account Manager specialising in Excise Warehousing to join our team. This role is key to ensuring compliance with UK customs and excise regulations while delivering excellent service to our clients. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of excise warehousing accounts, ensuring accurate customs declarations, excise duty handling, and HMRC compliance, while acting as the main point of contact for clients.
Responsibilities
* Manage and oversee excise warehousing accounts, ensuring all customs and excise obligations are met.
* Prepare and submit customs declarations, excise duty calculations, and relevant HMRC documentation accurately and on time.
* Maintain compliance with HMRC regulations relating to excise warehousing, customs procedures, and bonded storage.
* Act as the key liaison between clients and HMRC on excise-related matters.
* Provide expert advice to clients on customs and excise procedures, including duty suspension, duty relief, and bonded warehousing.
* Monitor and audit stock records, ensuring correct movements of excise goods in/out of bond.
* Support the business with process improvements and compliance checks to strengthen controls and minimise risk.
* Develop and maintain strong client relationships, providing excellent account management service.
* Assist in internal and external audits relating to customs and excise compliance.
* Keep up to date with changes in customs and excise legislation, advising colleagues and clients where necessary.
Skills & Experience Required
* Proven experience in customs compliance and excise warehousing (essential).
* Strong knowledge of HMRC customs procedures, excise duty, bonded warehouse operations, and related systems.
* Experience in preparing and submitting customs declarations.
* Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
* Strong client-facing communication and relationship management skills.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple accounts simultaneously.
* IT literate with experience using customs software platforms.
* Knowledge of Customs Freight Simplified Procedures (CFSP), excise duty reliefs, and EMCS (desirable).

* HMRC compliance training/certifications (advantageous)
