Overview

This job is a unique and exciting opportunity to work as a Consultant Psychiatrist in both the Traumatic Stress Pathway and the Veterans' Service within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. These are Health Board wide services which are part of the CAMHS and Specialised Services Directorate within the Mental Health Care Group. Both roles are replacement posts and would suit a psychiatrist with a particular interest in PTSD and CPTSD.

Please be aware this Job description is pending Royal College approval.

Other Job Requirements

* Ability to travel to meet the requirements of the post
* Satisfactory immigration / right to work status
* Ability to speak Welsh or a willingness to learn


Qualifications & Training

* Full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practice
* On the GMC Specialist Register for General Adult Psychiatry and/or Forensic Psychiatry (or be eligible for registration within 6 months of interview)
* Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent
* Section 12 approved doctor under the Mental Health Act
* Additional postgraduate Qualifications e.g. MSc/MD/PhD
* Recognised trainer by the GMC
* Approved Clinician Status in Wales


Experience

* Experience of working with patients with PTSD or CPTSD
* Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams
* Experience of multi-agency working
* Experience of clinical risk management
* Experience of teaching
* Clinical experience of working with Veterans
* Experience of working as a Consultant Psychiatrist in NHS Wales
* Evidence of engagement with research
* Evidence of previous leadership experience


Skills & Knowledge

* Knowledge of the All Wales PTSD Prescribing Algorithm
* Knowledge of quality/service improvement methodology
* Analytical mind able to reach conclusions in the face of potentially conflicting information, and carry decisions forward
* Good organisational skills and time management with ability to prioritise own work load
* Self-motivated and flexible approach to work
* Effective and demonstrable communication skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues
* Evidence of participation in clinical audit and understanding role of audit in improving medical practice
* Understanding of clinical risk management and clinical governance
* Evidence of proactive engagement with appraisal and revalidation
* Values aligned to those of the Health Board

* High ethical and professional standards
* Evidence of a significant commitment to continuing professional development
