As a Commercial Manager at Mitie, you will play a pivotal role in driving the commercial success of a major construction framework. You'll provide strategic commercial leadership, ensuring robust contract management, strong financial governance, and intelligent commercial decision‑making.
Working closely with colleagues across operations, finance, procurement, project controls and senior leadership—as well as with external clients and suppliers—you will directly influence profitability, client satisfaction, and the long-term performance of the framework.
We're looking for someone who brings proactive thinking, sound judgement, and a solutions-focused approach to managing commercial risk and opportunity. This is an exciting opportunity to join Mitie in a role that blends strategic influence with hands-on commercial delivery.
Key responsibilities:
* Develop and deliver commercial strategies aligned to business objectives, contract requirements, and client needs.
* Ensure full contract compliance while proactively identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities.
* Administer NEC3/NEC4 contracts, including change control, compensation events, KPIs, and applications for payment.
* Manage financial governance processes, including CVRs, forecasting, budgeting, and margin reporting.
* Act as a trusted commercial partner, collaborating closely with internal teams and maintaining strong relationships with clients and supply chain partners.
* Represent the commercial function in audits, client reviews, and strategic meetings.
* Support procurement activity, ensuring subcontractor agreements are commercially robust and well‑priced.
* Oversee subcontract administration from valuations through to final accounts.
* Lead and develop the commercial team while supporting commercial capability across the wider operational function.
About you:
* Significant experience in commercial management with a strong track record working with NEC or similar contract models.
* Proven ability to manage multiple high‑value, complex contracts across different clients.
* Strong financial skills with experience in forecasting, budgeting, reporting, and governance.
* Confident leader with experience managing and developing teams.
* Degree‑level qualification (or equivalent experience) and able to obtain SC clearance.
* Ideally experienced in civil, mechanical, or electrical disciplines, with exposure to the nuclear sector and public sector procurement.
* Commercially astute with excellent negotiation, problem‑solving, and contract interpretation skills.
* Strong communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders and manage competing priorities effectively.
